he waits, and by the time he responds again the chaos has already started and intensified- and he’s finally blunt. ]

[Kurapika and the others have been missing for days and the havoc's spread. Killua got to see him before he left, but his hopes hadn't been high then and they weren't any better now.

There was a sinking dread in his gut at his brother's text and he continued to lie because of it.]

no. he wouldn't go without me. [He had to find Gon and the others before it was too late...]

i think theyre losing their minds. [ and killua’s lying is pointless- because he’s already in vandare, and catching whiff of everything as it unfolds. ]

[The words are typed and entered before Killua even has a chance to think it through. He wanted to believe his friends were stronger than that--that it was only a vocal minority of those who took the cure that were acting like this.]

[ from there illumi is occupied, and too cautious to lug around something that will draw the hunting monsters right to him as he scopes about, even if it provides a chance for him to push his point further. it isn’t until the next night, after he’s (unexpectedly) killed leorio, that he goads killua further. ]

i always make good on my word, killu.

[Killua's been looking all day now. He ran into Kurapika earlier and now--this. Usually he didn't take his laptop with him when he was out, but with all the text messages Illumi had been sending him he couldn't risk not taking it. Not when he wouldn't be returning home until he found Gon.

That's the only reason why he gets Illumi's next text on time.]

[ illumi doesn’t look at his laptop until it’s all done. whatever killua had sent him wouldn’t make any difference- killing gon is- was the perfect, the only solution to his problem. it was the one way to get killua to submit. and he would be certain it was carried out, no matter the trouble that would have awaited him.

it’s a good hour or so before illumi sends his final message, a single, plain text containing nothing but an address- where killua will be sure to find gon.

illumi’s job is complete, for now. so he waits. ]
